Another player who had a major impact on the NFL and changed the game was WR Don Hutson, who spent his entire 11 yr career with the Packers starting in 1935. The combination of his exceptional speed, receiving skills, and the ball being smaller and sleeker opened up the passing game in the NFL. His senior season at Alabama he was a consensus All American along with the Crimson Tide being National Champs. The other end/receiver on that team was Paul "Bear" Bryant.
Hutson is considered to have been the first modern receiver, and is credited with creating many of the modern pass routes used in the NFL today. He was the dominant receiver of his day, during which he was widely considered one of the greatest receivers in NFL history. Hutson was inducted as a charter member of both the College Football Hall of Fame in 1951,[50] and Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1963, he's the only player to have been a charter member of both.
